1984

“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

I love dystopias! No secret there, but you didn’t know about me is the fact that Orwell’s “1984” was the novel that made me love them.

I absolutely recommend this book because it is a book that gets you thinking!

Similar to Fahrenheit 451 it presents a world far to foreign and alien from what we know today. Keep in mind that Orwell was prophesying about the future at the time he wrote the novel and people more or less expected to see the images depicted in the book, become true.

I don’t want to bombard you with details that you could find in Goodreads once you search the book. So only want to prompt you to read this book and to think about our society today. How this world you live in, this country, this city is actually becoming worse and worse everyday. Think about what you can do to help change your neighborhood. And then take a step back and notice how one action that can change a city, can then progress and gradually be able to change the way we think and receive the world. If you only do that and keep an open mind then I believe that you are going to appreciate Orwell’s vision.

Once people believed that this dystopian society will become the world we will be living in by 1984. It didn’t happen in 1984, maybe it won’t even happen in the next year or the year after that. But it will happen. They only way to change this inevitable future and avoid the foreshadowing of the author is to change.
